year-end dividend investment & finance definition

An additional dividend beyond the regular, quarterly dividend that is given to stockholders based on the company’s profit level at year end. In good years, the dividend may be large, and in bad years, no year-end dividend is paid out. The year-end dividend is discretionary, and many companies don’t pay it.
