target company investment & finance definition
A
company that another company is attempting to take over, in either a
hostile or friendly transaction. Once the acquiring company has acquired five
percent of the outstanding shares of the company, the acquiring company must
report this fact to the Securities and Exchange Commission on a 13D schedule.
