state municipal bond fund investment & finance definition

A mutual fund that invests mainly in municipal bonds of a single state and has an average maturity of either more than five years or no stated average maturity. The funds are exempt from federal and state income taxes for residents of that state. State municipal bond funds also may invest in short-term securities.
