prepackaged bankruptcy investment & finance definition
A bankruptcy proceeding used by corporations in
which the major terms of the bankruptcy are resolved before the court is
petitioned to begin the proceeding. Often, prepackaged bankruptcies result in
more favorable terms for both the creditors and debtors. They also can cut down
the amount of time needed to complete a bankruptcy proceedings, and thus save
costs.
