A price-weighted index composed of 17 U.S. companies that design, manufacture, and sell semiconductors. This index was created by the Philadelphia Stock exchange on December 1, 1993, with an initial value of 200 and was split two-for-one on July 24, 1995. The ticker symbol for the index is SOX.
