Morningstar Ratings investment & finance definition

A rating system for mutual funds that ranks performance on a scale ranging from one star (lowest rating) to five stars (highest rating). Morningstar is a Chicago-based global investment research firm that sells advisory products and services for individuals and institutional investors. It provides information on stocks, mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, closed-end funds, and variable annuity/life products.
