Interstate Commerce Commission investment & finance definition

A federal agency whose purpose is to protect the public and make sure that the public receives fair and reasonable rates and services from transportation companies. The agency was created in 1887. Many of its regulatory activities were curtailed in the 1970s and 1980s during a period of deregulation.
