GmbH investment & finance definition

A German corporate designation that stands for Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung and is translated as a “company with limited liability.” A GmbH is incorporated, but it is not publicly traded. GmbHs are essentially partnerships without a legal name, and there must be at least two partners. They also must meet minimum capital requirements. Public companies must be AGs and AG subsidiaries can be GmbHs. Switzerland also uses this designation. See also AG.
