copyright investment & finance definition
The
exclusive right, as recognized separately in each country, to publish and sell
literary, artistic, or musical materials or computer programs during the
author’s lifetime plus 50 years. Accounting regulations require that the value
of a copyright be recorded at its acquisition cost and amortized over its
useful life, which is often much shorter than the legal life. Amortization can’t
exceed 40 years.
